Women are not from Venus........That was the banner behind me in this picture. The theme was The Power of Unity of a Man & Woman. Pastor Jimmy and Aida Cornejo of Central Christian Center, Cuenca, Ecuador were hosting their Tenth Annual Congress. Twenty Nine men were about to be commissioned. There is something about commissioning men who are preparing to fulfill the "Great Commission" and start making disciples.
Ecuador has been one of the leading countries for discipling men, since Pastor Robert Barriger, Comino de Vida church, Lima, Peru began Majoring Men Curriculum ten years ago with the Christian Men's Network. The ministry to men in South America has grown to over 16,000 men in eight different countries under the leadership of Pastor Barriger.
My first stop in South America this trip was in Bogota, Columbia with Pastor Luis Hernando Beltran
of Filadelfia Puente Largo Church. There was a great response as more men attended than originally planned. I had a similar feeling as I did in Klaipeda, Lithuania three years earlier. I realized there were probably men there who were lost and woudl normaly sit through the meeting in 'darkness' and then be giving an invitation to accept Christ at the end. Doesn't that seem to be the 'normal' thing to do, at the end? I had been with Dr Edwin Cole numerous times over the years when he gave the call for men to come to Christ at the beginning of the meeting. That way they are in the Kingdom of Light all through the meeting and can undertand the things of the Spirit of God. I sensed the same thing this night and sure enough, eight men confessed Christ for the first time, Hallelujah!
Then we started the meeting, the rest of the men rejoiced and we began to to teach the basics of men's ministry. I started in Genesis in the Garden of Eden where Adam sinned and lost his manhood when he refused to accept responsibility for his actions. i shared with the men of Bogota about my curiosity of why Adam stood there and watched, listened and whatever while Eve was being tempted. It says in Gen 3:6......"Eve took of the fruit and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat." What was up with that? Adam was there and never stopped her? Why? Was he curious also and wondered if they would surely die if she ate of it? or maybe he was being a gentleman? And said, go ahead Eve, Ladies First? Or if she had fell down dead when she ate of it, would Adam have said, No way. Maybe he woudl have said what the typical male would say in that situation? "Told you so, Eve." I know it's not funny but you have to wonder what Adam was thinking and why he didn't stop her. I belive now that Adam lost his manhood when he didn't stop her and protect her, not when he ate it or when he refused to accept responsibility when God asked him if he did what God had told Adam not to do. We know men have followed Adam's example every since then when he blamed God and the " woman you gave me." The true sign of mature manhood and Godliness is to accept responsibilty for your actions.
I want to tell you more of what God spoke to the men of South America, especially the military base in this picture in Ecuador. I will write more tomorrow, you won't believe what God did with this General on the front row and all these soldiers, last week.
Thanks again for stopping by,
Jack
